Last day on Kasarani Stadium:

The cross is removed

Small groups of fundamentalists sparked off a heated debate as they dubbed the sculpture as blasphemous. The prime mover was an Irishman who attempted to stir up the crowd alledging that we came from the country of the Mohammed drawings. He had announced a demonstration against us on the last day.

We did not see the discussion as fructiferous. So we chose to dismantle the cross, so that the teenager was hanging freely in the air. By this step we wanted to take the sting out of the dispute about blasphemy and get the discussion back on the track and focus on contraception.

The manoeuvre was successful. The minuscule demonstration ran out of steam and the focus of the debate was recovered.
