Breakneck Economy
Galschiot has considerable predicaments finding funds for his controversial happenings.
The leaders of business companies and public foundations do not find it profitable
supporting an artist who is questioning the basic ethical self understanding of the
western world. In addition they see there economical interests be threatened by art
projects intervening in the internal affairs of other countries. "We'll not promote
ourselves on negative messages" - they proclaim.
As Galschiot's happenings are carried out on the border of economical ruin, he's hunting
high and low for "rich" and courageous sponsors ready to support an artistic
commitment aiming at the promotion of a more equitable balance, locally as well as
globally. The mounting of the Pillar Sharne has been funded by a loan in the artist's
workshop.
